What is the Pendulum Lock and Why is it Important?
Inside your laser level, a precision internal pendulum hangs on a frictionless pivot. This pendulum is what allows the laser to self-level within a certain range, usually up to 4 degrees. When the tool is placed on a surface, gravity pulls this pendulum so the laser is always projecting a perfectly level line.

When UNLOCKED, the pendulum is free to swing. The laser will self-level and flash or beep if the tool is placed on a surface that is too sloped, beyond its leveling range. This is the setting for use.

When LOCKED, the pendulum is physically clamped or secured in place. This is the setting for transport. Locking the pendulum prevents the delicate internal mechanism from swinging and potentially breaking when the tool is bumped, dropped, or jostled in a toolbox.

Using the Lock: A Step-by-Step Guide
To use the laser, you must unlock it first. Place the laser on a stable, flat surface or mount it on a tripod. Locate the Pendulum Lock Switch. This is usually a sliding switch on the side of the unit, often marked with a padlock icon and an open lock icon. Slide the switch to the UNLOCKED position. Turn the laser on. The laser beams will flash for a moment as the pendulum stabilizes, then shine steadily, indicating it is level.

To transport or store the laser, you must lock it. Turn the laser off. Slide the Lock Switch to the LOCKED position. You may hear a distinct click as the pendulum secures. Place the laser in its protective carry case or your toolbox.

Warning: Transporting the laser with the pendulum unlocked can cause irreversible damage to the leveling mechanism. Always ensure the switch is in the Locked position before putting it away.

Green Beam Technology utilizes advanced green light. It is up to 4 times brighter and more visible to the human eye than standard red lasers. This ensures you can see the lines clearly even in brightly lit rooms or over longer distances.

An out-of-level indicator alerts you if the laser is placed on a surface that exceeds its self-leveling range of approximately 4 degrees. The laser lines will flash rapidly to warn you that the surface is too sloped and the lines are not accurate.
